Governments of Kazakhstan & Georgia ink coop agr’t on customs matters

BAKU-TBILISI. KAZINFORM - In Tbilisi (Georgia) a Conference of heads of customs services of the European Region of the World Customs Organization (WCO) took place.

The Kazakh delegation was represented by the Chairman of the Customs Control Committee (CCC) of the Finance Ministry of Kazakhstan G.Amrin, the Head of International Relations Control of the CCC E.Kozhabergenov and the Counselor of the Embassy of Kazakhstan in the Republic of Azerbaijan A.Imashev. Every year, heads of customs services of each region of the WCO meet to discuss the issues related to the activities of the organization as well as of the particular region. The conference meeting discussed the proposals related to the strategic plan of the WCO, membership in the supreme authorities of the WCO - Political Commission and Finance Committee, reports of the Regional Office for the institutional development of the WCO Policy Commission, reports of the Global Network of customs, reports of customs etc. Chairman of the Kazakh Customs Control Committee held talks with the Secretary General of the WCO, Kunio Mikuriya, head of the delegation of the Directorate of Tariff Policy and International Relations Directorate for Taxes and Customs Union of the European Commission, Peter Kovacs, during which they discussed the prospects of cooperation with Kazakhstan. In addition, the conference held a bilateral round table of the Chairman of Customs Control Committee of the Ministry of Finance of Kazakhstan G.Amrin with the CEO of the Revenue Service of Georgia, Irakli Gvaramadze, which resulted in the signing of the Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Government of Georgia on cooperation and mutual administrative assistance in customs affairs. The Agreement provides the legal framework for strengthening partnership between the customs authorities of Kazakhstan and Georgia, and is aimed at improving relations through mutual exchange of information, experience and best practices as well as assistance in offenses investigation related to customs.
