Grand East region of France interested in cooperation with Kazakhstan’s regions
Consul General of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Strasbourg Anuarbek Akhmetov met with Chairman of the French Grand East (GE) Franck Leroy for discussing cooperation development issues, Kazinform News Agency reports via the Kazakh Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The Head of the region was informed about the policy and reforms, implemented by the President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, his foreign policy and economic initiatives, as well as a rich cooperation agenda with the GE.
The Consulate General of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Strasbourg, opened in 2020 on the initiative of the Kazakh President, during the three years of its functioning organized visits of delegations of both sides, worked out joint economic and humanitarian projects, expanded the Friends of Kazakhstan community among major politicians, businessmen and scientists.
The parties welcomed specific investment projects being promoted in manufacture of construction materials, food and agricultural products in Kazakhstan, as well as expanding cultural exchanges and cooperation in the field of medicine, higher and technical education.
The Consul General proposed to the Administration of the French region to establish interregional cooperation with the administrations of Pavlodar and East Kazakhstan regions.
Frank Leroy expressed his readiness to establish such interregional cooperation with a focus on exchange of experience in decentralization, development of projects in the field of industry, agriculture, education, digitalization and others. The potential of Pavlodar and East Kazakhstan regions will be carefully studied out by him in order to adopt a Cooperation Roadmap for 2024-2026. It was agreed that in the nearest future video-negotiations will be held in order to gain concrete results by November 1.
In conclusion, Chairman of the French Grand East region Franck Leroy, expressed warm congratulations and best wishes to the President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and the People of Kazakhstan on the occasion of the upcoming Republic Day.
He also wished further success to Consul General in connection with the completion of his diplomatic mission in Strasbourg.
The large and most developed French Grand East region includes the well-known Alsace, Lorraine, Champagne and other territories in the north-east of France with its capital in Strasbourg. Occupying 10% of the territory of the whole country, the region borders Belgium, Luxembourg, Germany and Switzerland, being France's leading exporter and industrial locomotive. The region (7% of France's GDP or about 150 billion euros) specializes in engineering, metallurgy, energy, light and food industry, agriculture, construction, tourism, transportation and logistics.
