Hamster Kombat token listing: the year’s biggest disappointment for most users
On September 26, 2024 the token for the game Hamster Kombat (HMSTR) was officially listed on various cryptocurrency exchanges. As predicted by experts, the token’s value was far below the expectations of many users, reports a Kazinform News Agency correspondent.
According to collected statistics, the average Hamster Kombat player earned approximately 1,300 to 2,000 tokens over six months of gameplay. However, approximately 12% of these tokens remain locked due to in-game rules, meaning users could only trade 1,140 to 1,760 tokens. Given Friday morning’s exchange rate on Binance ($0.0069), this amounts to about $8–$12.
Although this amount might cover the cost of a meal in countries such as Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Belarus, Russia, or Ukraine—regions that represent a large part of the post-Soviet space—the overall earnings remain modest.
Earlier in the week, the pre-market price for HMSTR tokens was similarly low. Even the most active users were only able to earn around $40 to $50. Currently, the price of HMSTR has dropped further, standing at $0.00566659. Over the past 24 hours, the trading volume reached $262.95 million, and the price has decreased by 2.72%.
Out of the total 100 billion HMSTR tokens in circulation, 64.38 billion are currently available. Based on market capitalization, HMSTR ranks 188th among cryptocurrencies.
Reports of users striking it rich after the HMSTR listing are virtually nonexistent. Most ordinary players received only small rewards, and even influencers—who tend to fare better in such releases—barely made any significant profits.
It's worth mentioning that Hamster Kombat is a clicker game available through a dedicated Telegram bot. In the game, users attempt to turn the main character, a hamster, into the head of a cryptocurrency exchange by clicking (or tapping) on his image to earn tokens.
In conclusion, while Hamster Kombat may have provided some entertainment, it has not met the financial expectations of most players or investors.
