HC Barys to miss Spengler Cup this year

ASTANA. June 26. KAZINFORM HC Barys Astana will not join the fight for the Spengler Cup in Davos this year. First held in 1923, the Spengler Cup is one of the oldest ice hockey tournaments in the world, Kazinform has learnt from Vesti.kz.

Organizers of the Spengler Cup were keen to invite HC Barys this year as participation of the hockey club from Astana, Kazakhstan, would have allowed to expand the geographical horizons of the Swiss tournament.

However, CSKA Moscow also expressed its wish to travel to Davos and was the first to submit the application.
