Head of China’s State Planning confident in economic strength
The Chinese economy has good long-term prospects. That has been said in Beijing during the press conference by the chairman of the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) Zhang Ping.
"Despite the decline in China's GDP growth from 9.3% in 2011 to 7.8% in 2012, China's economy was the highest among major economies, and it has been achieved amid the global financial crisis, which had a negative impact on the economy of the country ", said Zhang Ping.
Mr. Zhang Ping noted that "at present China is in the important period of strategic opportunities." "I am confident that the Chinese economy will maintain steady and healthy development," he added.
Zhang Ping reiterated that the Chinese government intends to keep GDP growth at 7.5%. "China has improved the quality and efficiency of its economy, while maintaining relatively high growth after decades of rapid development," he continued. "There are still problems in the development of business to be solved," said Zhang Ping.
The chairman stressed that the acceleration of industrialization, urbanization, informatization and modernization of agriculture would provide more opportunities for the expansion of domestic demand.
NDRC is a key organ of the State Council in determining the economic strategy of the country (similar to the Soviet State Planning Committee) including the matters of foreign trade and investment policy.
NDRC presented the status report on implementation of socio-economic development in 2012 and the draft plan for 2013 for consideration of the deputies of the annual session of the Chinese Parliament.
It is to be recalled that on Tuesday, March 5, in Beijing the first session of the National People's Congress of the 12th convocation opened and will be held for two weeks to be closed on March 17.
