Head of Competition Protection Agency reported to PM on results of jet fuel prices study
ASTANA. January 16. KAZINFORM /Bauyrzhan Mukanov/ Today at an enlarged session Chairman of the Agency for Competition Protection Mazhit Yessenbayev has reported to Prime Minister Karim Massimov on preliminary results of the study of jet fuel prices in the country, Kazinform correspondent reports.
?In December 2008 the fuel prices rose sharply. By a request of ?Air Astana? we set to analysis of the market. During the investigation we revealed that the fuel is supplied to the domestic market at higher prices (2-2.5 times). As a result, monopoly companies? ?Petro Kazakhstan? Trade House, ?Petro Kazakhstan Kumkol Resources? and ?Turgai Petroleum? were revealed?, M. Yessenbayev said.
?In January 2009 these companies were included in the state register of dominants, i.e. any violation of anti-monopoly legislation will be suppressed?, he added.
As earlier reported, yesterday the Prime Minister commissioned the Agency to conduct investigation of price setting on jet fuel market.
According to the Ministry of Transport and Communications, in November-December 2008 for the first time in Kazakhstan jet fuel prices exceeded average European level and made USD 650-750 per ton while on Asian and European markets they comprised only USD 425-500 per ton.
