Head of EP Central Asia Delegation noted interest in studying experience of People's Assembly of Kazakhstan

KAZINFORM. /Yerzhan Ospanov/ Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Kazakhstan to the European Union, NATO, Belgium and Luxembourg Yerik Utembayev has held a working meeting with Head of the European Parliament Delegation for relations with Central Asia and Mongolia Paolo Bartolozzi in Brussels.

The parties discussed the status and prospects of work of the Interparliamentary Cooperation Committee "Kazakhstan-EU" and noted dynamic development of Kazakh-European partnership in various spheres.

The Ambassador told about Kazakhstan's priorities in the format of the OSCE. He also briefed on the tasks, structure and activity of the People's Assembly of Kazakhstan. P. Bartolozzi appraised Kazakhstan's measures in the field of tolerance, interethnic and inter-confessional accord and noted the European Parliament's interest in studying the experience of the People's Assembly of Kazakhstan. The Kazakh diplomat invited Mr. Bartolozzi to visit Kazakhstan and get acquainted with the activities of the People's Assembly. Besides, he suggested holding the Days of the People's Assembly of Kazakhstan in the European Parliament.

Y. Utembayev told about the adoption of the Human Rights Action Plan and Legal Policy Concept in Kazakhstan and measures taken in this sphere. He expressed readiness to present these documents in Brussels in January 2010.

The sides agreed to keep contacts for activation of cooperation and exchange of delegations.
