Head of Kazakhstan Mission to EU met with European Commissioner in Brussels

ANA. October 17. KAZINFORM. Kazakh Ambassador, Head of Kazakhstan's Mission to the European Union Yerik Utembayev met with European Commissioner for External Relations and European Neighborhood Policy Benita Ferrero-Waldner in Brussels; Kazakh MFA's press service told Kazinform.

The parties exchanged opinions on the issues of Kazakhstan's oncoming chairmanship in the OSCE as well as the efforts on enhancement of the bilateral political, economic and energy dialogue.

Discussing the issues of further partnership strengthening the parties emphasized the necessity of preparation of a new framework agreement on advanced partnership between Kazakhstan and the EU.

The Kazakh diplomat noted that Kazakhstan pays special attention to deepening of Kazakhstan's cooperation with the European Union on the threshold of its OSCE chairmanship.

The European Commissioner said that Kazakhstan's chairmanship in this authoritative organization can become a good opportunity for modernization of all three dimensions of the OSCE - political, economic and humanitarian.

The sides noted that despite the current economic and financial crisis Kazakhstan and the EU continue development of trade-economic collaboration. The Head of Kazakhstan Mission stressed that the forthcoming sitting of the EU-Kazakhstan Cooperation Council scheduled on the middle of November will be devoted to the issues of implementation of projects in the spheres of renewable energy sources, environment, transport, agriculture and scientific research.
