Head of State attended "Red Giselle" ballet
ASTANA. November 11. KAZINFORM /Kanat Kulshmanov/ Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev has attended "Red Giselle" ballet performed by actors of the Abai Kazakh State Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre at the Palace of Peace and Accord today.
"Red Giselle" ballet (music by P.Tchaikovsky, A. Schnittke, G.Bizet) was staged by People's Artist of Russia, Laureate of the State Prize of Russia Boris Eifman, art director - Martins Vilkarsis.
Red Giselle tells the story of Olga Spessivtseva, prima ballerina with the Russian Imperial Ballet. She was a sensitive dancer who was brilliant in the title role of Giselle. The bloody events of the Revolution upset her so profoundly that she eventually immersed herself completely in the role and detached herself from the outside world.
The first performance of the ballet was held in Almaty on October 20, 2010.
