Head of State receives Svevind Energy Group CEO Wolfgang Kropp

 Kazakh Head of State Kassym-Jomart Tokayev held a meeting with CEO of Svevind Energy Group Wolfgang Kropp, Kazinform News Agency cites the Akorda press service. 

During the meeting with the management of Svevind Energy Group, the issues of preparation for the implementation of the project for the production of "green" hydrogen in the Mangistau region were discussed.

The Head of State was informed about the beginning of preliminary design and survey works (Pre-FEED) under the Investment Agreement signed during the visit of President of the European Council Charles Michel to Kazakhstan last year.

The project involves the construction and operation of a desalination plant, a 40 GW renewable energy plant (wind, solar) and a 20 GW water electrolysis plant with an annual production capacity of 2 million tonnes of green hydrogen or 11 million tonnes of green ammonia. The preliminary investment amount is more than €50bn.

Wolfgang Kropp said that the project documentation will be finalised by 2026. Construction of the infrastructure is scheduled to start in 2027 and commissioning is planned for 2032.

Kassym-Jomart Tokayev noted that the timely implementation of the Hyrasia One project is of strategic importance for the country.

The Head of State expressed confidence that this project will become a flagship for the development of renewable energy in Kazakhstan and will make a huge contribution to achieving the carbon neutrality goal.
