Head of State Tokayev briefed on Anti-corruption Agency’s activity

Head of State Kassym-Jomart Tokayev had a meeting with Chairman of the Anti-corruption Agency Askhat Zhumagali, during which the President was briefed about the results of the activity of the Agency in 10 months of this year, Kazinform News Agency cites Akorda. 

According to the Chairman of the Anti-corruption Agency Zhumagali, around 1,500 corruption-related crimes were registered in the reporting period, over 1,100 persons were convicted, of whom 158 are heads at different level. Up to one thousand cases were sent to court; KZT282 billion worth of damage was recovered.

Since 2022, property assets and funds to the tune of KZT857 billion have been returned to the budget and quasi-public sector facilities.

Zhumagali also said that as part of cooperation with the civil society, the anti-corruption volunteering project engaging over two thousand Kazakhstanis is underway.

Following the meeting, the Head of State gave a number of instructions to continue systemic work to fight corruption and enhance preventive measures.
