Head of State Tokayev receives Akmola region governor Marat Akhmetzhanov
Akmola region governor Marat Akhmetzhanov reported to Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev on the social and economic development of the region in the first half of 2024, Akorda reports.
According to Akhmetzhanov, the upward trend was observed in the region’s industrial output, agricultural gross product, transport as well ss communication services.
The governor spoke about the measures taken to ensure the region’s economic growth. It was said that the region expects a high grain harvest of over five million tons. With the support pf state financial institutes, construction of seven dairy farms is underway.
This year, nine manufacturing projects are slated for launch. Up to 179 billion tenge was invested in the economy of the region; the investment portfolio includes 187 projects with a creation of 1.7 thousand jobs. As part of the region’s economic diversification, the Aqmola industrial zone of republican significance was opened in Arshalynskiy district. The Аqmola invest investment promotion center was unveiled in the Kazakh capital to attract and support potential investors based on the single window principle.
Tokayev was briefed about the work on eliminating the aftermath of floods and realization of the measures to assist those affected. So far, 711 houses have been underway repairs, 331 constructed, and 221 purchased in the region. 1,782 families received one-time payments, and 814 compensations for property damages. Works are ongoing to clean the Zhabai and Kylshakty riverbeds, as well as to construct bypass channels and conducts bank protection works.
The Head of State was also informed about the preparation for the heating season, development of engineering infrastructure and improvement works in the region’s administration center. As part of housing renovation and modernization, demolition of 150 emergency houses and construction of 32 apartment buildings are planned in Kokshetau city. This year, over two thousand families are to receive new housing. Repairs of 26.4km of heating systems are underway in Kokshetau, Stepnogorsk and Atbasar, enabling to bring the wear and tear of heating systems by 4.2%.
As part of the national project Comfortable school, construction of nine schools, four of which are set to be commissioned before the start of this academic year, is be to completed this year. 38 primary health care facilities with a coverage of 43 thousand residents are set to be commissioned within the rural healthcare modernization project.
Following the meeting, the Kazakh President instructed to continue the work on carrying out strategic plans of development of Akmola region. Highlighting the key role the region plays in food security of the country, Tokayev stressed the importance of modernizing the agro-industrial complex, including ensuring a timely and quality harvest campaign.
