Head of State voices opinion on current situation in the Middle East

President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev voices his opinion on the current situation in the Middle East at the meeting of the CIS Heads of State, Kazinform Agency cites the Akorda press service.

While addressing the CIS heads of state in Bishkek, President Tokayev emphasized that Kazakhstan strongly opposes the use of terrorist methods in solving the acute international problems and the resort to violence towards civilians. The Head of State also said the use of terrorist actions can’t be justified.

He also stressed that Kazakhstan is committed to the principle of justice in the international relations that should be democratized taking into account legal and sovereign rights of all members of the international community.

Amid the current stagnation in the UN Security Council, the Kazakh leader believes it is crucial to strengthen the role of the UN General Assembly where all member states have equal representation.

The Kazakh President also urged not to get ahead of things when it comes to carrying out reforms in the UN Security Council, adding that it should be reinforced with the countries from all regions of the world, including the Global South.
