Heads of three OSCE states to give briefings on first day of Summit

ASTANA. November 25. KAZINFORM /Gulnara Zhandagulova/ According to the OSCE Secretariat, the Presidents of Lithuania, Poland and Ukraine are intent to hold a briefing for mass media on the first day of the Summit in Astana December 1. Representative of the press service of the OSCE Secretariat Tatyana Bayeva made it public on Thursday.

"To date we have confirmed information that a briefing of the Lithuanian President will be held on December 1 at 2.30 pm in Shabyt press center. The briefing of the Polish President is scheduled for same day at 6.15 pm. Media briefings of the UN Secretary General and the President of Ukraine are planned to be held on December 1 in the Palace of Independence", T.Bayeva informed.

Lithuania will preside in the OSCE next year. In 2012 the Organization will be headed by Ireland and in 2013 - Ukraine.

The final part of the OSCE Review Conference on human dimension will be held in the Palace of Peace and Accord on November 26-28. Over 800 members of the national delegations of the OSCE member states, representatives of the Kazakh and international NGOs, human rights funds, academic community and mass media are planned to take part in the Conference. Forums of NGOs of the OSCE member and states partners of the Organization will be held prior to the Review Conference in the first half of the day November 26.

As T.Bayeva informed, representatives of the OSCE would hold briefings in Shabyt center from November 26 through 30. OSCE Media Freedom Representative Dunja Mijatovic will answer questions of journalists on November 26. Besides, OSCE Secretary General Marc Perrin de Brichambaut will give a briefing on November 30.

The OSCE Summit in Astana will be covered by over 1200 Kazakhstani and foreign journalists.
