Hearth of Death documentary features about deadly coal mine coal explosion in Karaganda rgn
The TV and Radio Complex of the Kazakh President made a documentary Hearth of Death featuring the deadliest explosion occurred on October 28 at the ArcelorMittal Temirtau's Kostenko coal mine in Karaganda region, Kazinform Agency reports.
The Head of State, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, arrived in Karaganda region. The President offered his deepest condolences to the bereaved families.
The families of the late miners will be rendered all necessary assistance.
The Head of State assigned the Government to transfer ArcelorMittal Temirtau company into public ownership.
The documentary was screened on October 29 on the domestic TV channels.
As earlier reported, an explosion occurred at 2:33 am on October 28 in ArcelorMittal Temirtau's Kostenko coal mine in Karaganda region. 252 people were in the mine during the explosion, 205 of whom were taken to the surface. As of 8:00 pm October 29, the bodies of 45 miners were found.
The General Prosecutor's Office has launched a criminal investigation into the accident. According to ArcelorMittal Temirtau, there was a methane gas explosion in the lava in the mine, leading to the deaths of mine workers.
Operations at the company’s 8 coal mines were suspended.
