Heating to be fully restored in apartments across Ekibastuz in a matter of hours

Akim (governor) of Pavlodar region Assain Baikhanov vowed heating will be fully restored in apartments across Ekibastuz. In his words, it will take a couple of hours, Kazinform News Agency reports.

After collapse at the local power plant on December 10, it wasn’t running in full capacity. However, the situation is expected to get better as the temperature in apartments will rise.

According to Assain Baikhanov, three boilers at the power plant that were temporarily running on oil fuel have been switched to coal.

“I’ve been in Ekibastuz since Sunday. The situation at the plant has fully stabilized. Three boilers have been switched to run on coal,” Baikhanov said.

He promised it will get warmer in the apartments across Ekibastuz in a matter of hours.

A breakdown has been reported at 01:10 am local time at the power plant on December 10 in Ekibastuz. The collapse in the sluice discharge piping was discovered at 05:30 am local time.
