Hollywood to build film alliance, to shoot movie in Kazakhstan
The well-known Wonderhill Studios, the U.S., Kazakhstan and Georgia are set to build a film alliance. A new partnership aimed at creating TV shows and feature films will promote regional economies, generate new jobs, and promote national culture at large, Kazinform Agency cites 24.kz.
Wonderhill Studios and its Georgian partners will create a joint venture with the support of the Government of Georgia. The sides signed the corresponding memorandum of cooperation in Tsinandali.
Marvin Peart, Wonderhill Studios co-founder and co-CEO, said the studio shut down the production of films as the coronavirus pandemic spread worldwide. It focused on TV shows that gained popularity in the U.S. In his words, Georgia is inspiring. Cooperation will bring the region new opportunities and new jobs. He added that countries like Kazakhstan are ready to participate in their projects.
The first joint film will be shot in Kazakhstan and the U.S. It will be based on the story of a female jockey who was the first to win the top honors at the men’s horse races.
Marvin Peart said he has been in Astana, toured Kazakhstan, and met locals. The diversity of Kazakh culture made a great impression on him.
The script of the film has been written already. Kazakh actress Ayanat Ksenbai known for Wind Man (2007), Molitva Leyly (2002), and Ulzhan (2007) will play the starring role.
The official budget of the movie is 45 million US dollars. When shooting starts some 2,500 workplaces will be generated in Kazakhstan. Shooting will start next year.
