How Kazakhstan intends to modernize energy facilities and utilities sector
Deputy Prime Minister Kanat Bozumbayev spoke about the main objectives of the National Project on Modernization of Energy and Utility Infrastructure, Kazinform News Agency reports.
According to him, the national project consists of two main blocks:
“The first one is [energy - edit] generation, i.e. within the next five years, approximately 7,300 MW of electricity generating capacities will be created in the country, and part of the existing facilities will be modernized," Bozumbayev stated.
Bozumbayev highlighted that about 6.4 trillion tenge of investments is required for these purposes.
The second block of the project is the modernization of 86,000 kilometers of utility networks, with an objective of achieving a 40% reduction in their wear and tear.
“These are electricity networks, heat networks, several thermal power plants, water supply networks, wastewater disposal and sewage treatment facilities. The total amount of investments will be about 6.8 trillion tenge,” he said.
As reported earlier, Kazakhstan would boost share of domestic products in power and utilities sectors.
