How many people named in honor of Independence Day live in Kazakhstan
The greatest joy for Kazakh people is the birth of a child. Choosing a name for a newborn has always been taken very seriously, Kazinform News Agency reports.
The name was traditionally given by a child's grandfather or a respected person. Kazakhs have had various options for choosing names for their children. For example, the name was given in relation to a season (Zhazgul which is translated as "summer flower"), weather condition (Boranbay – "boran" is translated as "snowstorm"), in honor of famous persons (Ulzhan – mother of famous Kazakh poet and philosopher Abai, Kabanbay – Kazakh batyr, hero), important events (Zhenis – victory, Asker - army) etc.
On the occasion of Independence Day, the National Statistics Bureau disclosed how many people with the name Tauelsizdik (which is translated as Independence) live in Kazakhstan.
As it turned out, only one person with such a name lives in Kazakhstan.
23 Kazakhstanis have the name Bostandyk (Freedom). There are 21 people with the name Yegemen (Sovereign). There are 14,065 people named Azat (Independent) and 3,913 people with the name Yerkin (Free)
