How much Sergek cameras ‘earned’ in Almaty
The implementation of the Sergek Video Management System (Sergek VMS) in Almaty has resulted in a 40% reduction in road fatalities, a 17% decline in accidents, and a 30% decrease in casualties, Kazinform News Agency reports.
During an extraordinary session of the city maslikhat, Olzhas Zhanabek, Head of Almaty City Department of Digitalization, highlighted that there are currently 1,641 Sergek hardware-software complexes including 9,152 video cameras operating within the metropolis. Olzhas Zhanabek stated that since the project's inception in early 2020, the city budget has received 44.08 billion tenge.
In the first nine months of this year, more than 3 million violations were recorded in Almaty, resulting in the recovery of over 18.6 billion tenge.
As previously announced, violations of authorized weights on the roads will be penalized in accordance with the Sergek regulations.
Also, according to the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan, speeding is the main cause of fatal road accidents.
Recall that more than 22,000 road accidents occurred in Kazakhstan since the beginning of the year.
