I am excited about our future: Gennady Zenchenko

KAZINFORM. /Sergey Kuznetsov / December 1, 2008 President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev signed the Decree on awarding the title ?Kazakhstan Yenbek Yeri? – newly established highest title of the labor distinction. Among the first to receive it was Gennady Zenchenko, the well-known figure in the republic, head of agricultural production, General Director of ?Zenchenko and Co? LLP. A Kazinform correspondent visited Novonikolskoye village of Kyzylzhar district, North Kazakhstan region, and had an interview with G. Zenchenko.

Gennady Ivanovich, at the beginning of our conversation I would like to congratulate you on the rank ?Kazakhstan Yenbek Yeri?, the mark of special recognition ?Gold Star? and ?Otan? Order. What are the results of work of your company in 2008? We are satisfied with the results of the year 2008. First of all, we have succeeded to implement the pilot project on establishing the commercial dairy plant. The plant was founded in accordance with the Government?s decision on implementation of such projects in our village and in Akmola region. We have achieved significant success. In 2008 it was planned to receive 6000 liters of milk from each cow. But now we receive 6800, and this was our highest purpose ? to receive up to 7 thousand liters of milk per year from each cow. We have good perspectives; the cows brought from Canada are highly productive. This is the prospect for the whole Kazakhstan. We implemented the project and the task of the President. I think the Head of the State is satisfied with it as we are. Despite not quite favorable weather conditions, it was good grain harvest in 2008, on the average 22 hundredweights of wheat per hectare. We also see the increase of harvested onion, potato, carrot. We continue construction of houses. I have to say that nowadays people attach more significance to the agriculture. Our school?s former students, who graduated from the institutes majoring in software technologies and other modern sciences, plan to work in the sphere of agriculture. We cannot provide them with job in their professional occupations. They are employed in other spheres. However, these are educated people. We find employment for them, provide them with apartments. I am also glad that today we are steadily standing on our feet, we know, in what direction to move, people understand now that they have to work. As for me I am glad and proud to be awarded with the title of the Labor Hero of Kazakhstan. My colleagues, agrarians are happy about it as well. I receive many congratulations from the regions - East Kazakhstan, Pavlodar, Aktobe, Kostanay. Of course, it is very pleasant. In your recent interview you figuratively said, that the Star of the Hero has seven rays: the first ray is the President of the country, who visited you farm many times, and you were his consignee on the President?s elections; the second ray is management of the region, which supports you; the third ray is your father, who inured you to labor and taught you a lot; the fourth ray is your family, spouse Nina Mironovna, son Gennady, the director of your enterprise, daughter Lyubov, who creates family atmosphere necessary for you; the fifth ray is your Novonikolskoye?s collective, friendly and industrious; the sixth ray is the land, which rewards the labor with good harvest; and the seventh ray is you yourself. When I've read those words, I recollected how you told about your nomination for the title of the Hero of the Socialistic Labor twelve years ago, but your nomination was ?cut down?. The time has passed, and you received the ?Gold Star? from the hands of our President. I would like to ask you a little bit philosophical question: ?In your opinion, is there a justice in life and things that are envisaged for the man?s efforts, labor, business and personal properties, will not pass in vain, and life will put everything in places sooner or later?? Of course, this is a complicated question. Anyway, what I want to say is yes, once it was the case of awarding me with the Order of Lenin, not the title of the Hero. The man who did this, is alive and healthy now. He ?pushed? me to reserve. And when he arrived in our region, he was asked whether all candidates passed. He said ?all did?. When he was asked about my candidature, he answered ?No, Zenchenko?s nomination has not passed, we have left him in reserve?. That is all. Another question in this regard. In Soviet time a head of sovkhoz, kolkhoz, enterprise had definite business and professional skills. Today, in terms of the market economy, what main skills a managing person must have for work in the sphere of agriculture? What is an engineer of agriculture today? He must know everything about cattle-breeding equipment, automobile transport, modern harvesters, tractors, silage-harvesting technique and so on. Thus he must have wide outlook. Any rural engineer, if he starts to work in any city auto-enterprise, will be not a simple nonrated engineer, but the real one. Today if I want to do something, and if I have desire and opportunities, I am able to do anything. That is, today everything depends on you. It was quite different in the past. Gennady Ivanovich, the TV-channels showed, how the Head of the State awarded you with the Star of the Hero. What words did the President tell you? Nursultan Abishevich told me: ?You know, Gennady Ivanovich, I am really happy that you are among the first in Kazakhstan to receive this award. You deserve it. Thank you for everything?. These are his words. Gennady Ivanovich, today the world financial crisis is widely covered by mass media. What do you think, can your enterprise overcome this period without serious losses? I think, it will not be easy, because this crisis will affect everybody. However, we have survived the period of establishing our state in the 1990s together with the President and all Kazakhstan?s people. Today?s crisis is just nothing in comparison with what we have been through. The Head of the State and the Government take serious financial and economic measures to soften the situation and support the stable development of Kazakhstan?s economy. As for the agriculture, the villages will be replenished by the staff, since our production can not and will not be stopped. We will seed, harvest and develop cattle-breeding. And the bread, meat, milk, vegetables will always be in demand. The state will support the agrarians. Thus the development will go on. Thank you for the interview.
