I am focused on winning Olympic Games - Abiba Abuzhakynova
A total of 8 judokas representing Kazakhstan will participate in the upcoming 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, Kazinform News Agency reports.
Kazakh fans pin high hopes on two Kazakhstani judokas, Yeldos Smetov and Abiba Abuzhakynova.
"Every athlete aspires to achieve Olympic gold. I am no exception. I have set a goal to reach the final and compete for a gold medal. I am determined to succeed in Paris," the athlete stated.
Abuzhakynova asserted that the training camp ahead of the Olympics was conducted at a high level.
“The pre-Olympic training camp was a success, and I am 100% ready for the Olympics. In the past, I have consistently achieved recognition at world competitions. My current objective is to secure a medal. The first judo tournaments will commence on July 27, and I will be the first woman to compete. I need your support,” the judoka said.
Recall that Kazakhstan women’s judo team consists of Abiba Abuzhakynova (48 kg), Kamila Berlikash (+78 kg), and Esmigul Kuyulova.
Team Kazakhstan has earned 92 Olympic Games quotas in 25 sports, including boxing, judo, artistic gymnastics, track-and-field, kayaking and canoeing, rifle shooting, Greco-Roman wrestling, freestyle wrestling, archery, trap-shooting, tennis, road cycling, swimming, modern pentathlon, taekwondo, cycling track, trampoline gymnastics, badminton, rowing, rhythmic gymnastics, triathlon, table tennis, climbing and breaking.
The XXXIII Summer Olympic Games will be held in Paris from July 26 till August 11. The event will bring together 10,500 athletes from 205 countries, who will compete for 329 sets of medals in 32 sports.
