ST. PETERSBURG. November 1. KAZINFORM /Yelena Myagkova/ 'I fought for every ball and I am glad to have a win. I did not expect to win at the tournament. This victory is really significant for me', Kazakh tennis player said after win at the St.Petersburg Open-2010 where he defeated Mikhail Youzhny in the final.

'I served well and felt confidence playing in the backcourt. May be I was lucky that my opponent did not feel very good. Nevertheless, I am very glad that I came out victorious despite my opponent playing good tennis today', M. Kukushkin said.

As was reported Mikhail Kukushkin defeated Mikhail Youzhny in two sets 6:3, 7:6 (7:2) at the St.Petersburg Open-2010.

The first set was determined by the break that M. Kukushkin realized in the fifth game. Having come from four break-points M. Youzhny was not able to do it for the fifth time. The second set was a thriller and lasted for 1 hour and 42 minutes. M. Youzhny twice broke his opponent's serve but Kazakh tennis player retaliated immediately. The tie-break was result where M. Kukushkin played without mistakes. Having gained the lead Kazakh tennis player the first match-ball converted into his winning favor.

After the victory in St. Petersburg Mikhail Kukushkin significantly moved up in the ATP rating 'I was said that I would be ranked around the 58 place. I am so glad to have made such progress for just one year', the Kazakh tennis player added.
