IAEA 57th General Conference kicked off in Vienna

Delegations of the 159 member states considered the annual report of the IAEA on its activities in various areas of the nuclear energy peaceful use, in the field of security.
Besides the nuclear nonproliferation regime, and the program and budget of the Agency and its secretariat were discussed.

The Kazakh delegation headed by Vice Minister of Industry and New Technologies Bahytzhan Dzhaksalievym took part in the Forum. In particular the heads of permanent missions to the International Organizations in Vienna, Atomic Energy Commitee of the Ministry of Industry and New Technologies of Kazakhstan and National Nuclear Center paricipated in the event.

The delegates from Kazakhstan informed on the country's position in the field of disarmament and non-proliferation of nuclear weapons. Effective cooperation between Kazakhstan and the IAEA in the field of peaceful uses of nuclear energy, including nuclear medicine, nuclear and radiation technology, safe nuclear energy development, rehabilitation of radiation-contaminated areas, and other relevant issues were considered during the meeting, " the press service of the Foreign Ministry reported.

Besides, the Kazakh delegates met with the IAEA leadership, and the Agency's member states delegations to discuss a range of bilateral and multilateral cooperation.

According to the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan, the work of the General Conference of the IAEA will continue until September 20.
