ASTANA. KAZINFORM - The International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (the main lending institution of the World Bank) allocates $ 21.7 million to improve energy efficiency in Kazakhstan.

The corresponding bill "On ratification of the Agreement between the Republic of Kazakhstan and the IBRD on grant provision under the project" Promoting energy efficiency in Kazakhstan " has been approved at today's plenary session of the Majilis. According to the Vice-Minister for Investment and Development Albert Rau, from the Kazakh the project will be coordinated by the Ministry of Investment and Development. "The project's completion date is June 30, 2017, the grant is amounted to $ 21.7 million. The Project will focus on improving the institutional framework supporting the creation of sustainable energy financing mechanisms, as well as public campaign to promote energy efficiency," he added. According to his words, the project consists of two components - the investment component and technical assistance. "Investments in energy efficiency of public and social facilities amounted to $ 17.7 million. Thus, there will be financed about 70 social facilities," said Albert Rau.
