IDB seeks urgent measures to address world financial crisis

MANAGUA. March 6. KAZINFORM The president of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) said here on Thursday that the body is seeking urgent measures to help countries in the region weather the world financial crisis.

Luis Moreno made the remark when inaugurating the 23rd Central America and Dominican Republic Governors Meeting, which aimed to come up with ways of dealing with the negative effects of the crisis. "We gathered together to put forward ideas at a moment when there is a lack of answers to address the world economic crisis," Moreno said. The governors stressed the need to widen financing to counter the world economic crisis. Moreno said the two-day meeting will analyze the IDB's role in the region and discuss the agenda on its medium-term development. IDB's governors from Nicaragua, Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador, Panama and Dominican Republic attended the meeting, which coincided with the 50th anniversary of the IDB foundation, Kazinform cites Xinhuanet.
