IDB to partake in Astana WIEF as main sponsor - IDB President

ASTANA. March 22. KAZINFORM Kazakh Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Kairat Lama Sharif has met with President of the Islamic Development Bank (IDB) Dr. Ahmed Mohammed Ali Al-Madani in its headquarters; the Kazakh Embassy's press service reports.

Within the meeting there was handed over an invitation of President of Kazakhstan N.Nazarbayev to partake in the seventh World Islamic Economic Forum (WIEF) in Astana in June, 2011.

The IDB President gratefully accepted the invitation and announced that in support of President N.Nazarbayev's initiative on holding this 'Islamic Davos' in dynamically developing Kazakhstan the Islamic Development Bank will participate in the Astana WIEF as a main sponsor. He noted that this International Islamic Forum in Astana will give chance to discuss economic and geopolitical development of Muslim countries as well as their role in the global economy, prospects of new markets and investments attraction.

Presently, the IDB portfolio in Kazakhstan makes about USD 450 mln in the fields of development of infrastructure, agriculture and other spheres.

The Kazakh diplomat familiarized Dr. Ahmed Mohammed Ali Al-Madani with President N.Nazarbayev's Message to the Nation. The IDB President welcomed Kazakhstan's efforts on social improvement of its citizens, which, in his opinion, is a basis of Kazakhstan's economic development.
