In 2023 Kyrgyzstan produced jewelry 5 times more than in 2022, Deputy Minister of Economy and Commerce of the country Ainura Usenbekova told at a solemn event dedicated to Jeweler's Day of the Kyrgyz Republic, KABAR reports.

“If we look at the numbers, then at the end of 2023, domestic entrepreneurs produced jewelry worth 145 million soms, which is 5 times higher than the production volumes for 2022. These indicators should not be the limit, and in 2024 they should be even higher compared to 2023,” she said.

Usenbekova noted that as part of the provision of state support, jewelry manufacturers currently pay VAT with an 80% reduction. Also in 2022, a new edition of the Law of the Kyrgyz Republic “On Precious Metals and Precious Stones” was adopted.

In the near future, it is planned to carry out work to solve the main problem - the provision of raw materials (gold and silver) to domestic jewelry manufacturers, she added.

The professional holiday “Jewelers’ Day of the Kyrgyz Republic” was approved by a decree of the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic on May 4, 2021 and is celebrated annually on January 31.
