In Ankara embassies of CIS held joint reception to mark V-Day

ASTANA. KAZINFORM - Today in Ankara embassies of the CIS countries has held a joint reception on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the victory in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945.

The reception was attended by heads of diplomatic missions of Kazakhstan, Belarus, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan accredited in Ankara, representatives of international organizations, the General Staff, the Ministry of National Defence of the Republic of Turkey, the gendarmerie, government agencies of Turkey, public and political figures. As part of the reception the guests were presented traditional dishes of the host country including dishes of Kazakh cuisine. Moreover, there have been organized photo and film exhibitions. About 1 million 800 thousand Kazakhstanis fought on the fronts of the Great Patriotic War. Hundreds of thousands of Kazakh soldiers were awarded orders and medals for military merit, some 500 people were awarded titles of "Hero of the Soviet Union", and 110 people were awarded orders of Glory of third degree. During the war 630,000 people of Kazakhstan have died in battles, from wounds and diseases. 4,776 war veterans and 192,980 war workers live in Kazakhstan.
