In Astana we need to analyze what was done and define what we need to do in future - Angela Merkel

ASTANA. December 1. KAZINFORM /Daniyar Sihimbayev/ The Summit in Astana helps us to familiarize what is happening in the region. Federal Chancellor Angela Merkel said it during the OSCE Summit in Astana.

She noted that the meeting of such a high-level within the OSCE was held for the first time in Astana and Central Asia. 'We meet 35 years after the Helsinki Act. The world has changed so much since that time. Besides, we meet 20 years after the Paris Chapter. During theses 20 long years many things have happened', A. Merkel said.

Besides, she noted that some processes appeared to be slower than it was expected 20 years ago. 'That is why we need to analyze everything now in Astana. We need to reconsider everything; principles of rights of human, freedoms, law, democratic development and security. We also have to define priorities in the Action Plan', A. Merkel said.

She also thanked President of Kazakhstan for high-level of organization of the Summit.
