In Bishkek SCO Defense Ministers discuss strengthening of peace, stability and security
In the capital of the Kyrgyz Republic the defense ministers were debating strengthening of peace, stability and security.
At the meeting of the ministers of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, China, Russia, Tajikistan as well as the First Deputy Minister of Defence of the Republic of Uzbekistan exchanged views on development of SCO in modern conditions.
"SCO is focused on international cooperation for peace and security in the region. These principles resonate with G-Global initiative which was put forward by Nursultan Nazarbayev, the Kazakh President. This forum serves as active development of cooperation and understanding and it is in our common interests. Promoting the idea of trust and strategic dialogue has become one of the central elements of Kazakhstan's foreign policy ", said A.Dzhaksybekov.
The ministers took into consideration the situation in Afghanistan after the international coalition forces active phase ending.
"Our country has been actively involved in settlement of Afghanistan problems and as part of SCO. Kazakhstan will continue to contribute to peace restoration with an emphasis on social and educational programs and projects and humanitarian assistance", noted the Kazakh Minister .
Defense ministers mentioned the need for strengthening collaboration between tthem in the interests of stability and security in the region as well as combating terrorism, separatism, extremism, drug trafficking and transnational organized crime. The meeting stressed that owing to the principles and norms of international agreements and charter documents of the organization, SCO established partnership relations.
"There is a high level of interaction during the inspection activities. Our country, maintaining a friendly neighborly relations, with a high degree of responsibility appropriates to fulfill its international obligations including military sphere ", concluded A.Dzhaksybekov.
The event has approved cooperation plan for 2014-2015 and discussed topics related to the organization, preparation and conduct of joint anti-terror military exercise titled "Peace Mission" which will take place in 2014 on the territory of China.
Following the meeting the participants of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization signed a joint communique.
