Increasing Kazakh-Uzbek trade to USD 5 bln our goal in years to come - Akhmetov
TASHKENT. December 21. KAZINFORM Increasing trade turnover between Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan to USD 5 billion is a goal for the next few years, Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Serik Akhmetov said at the enlarged meeting with his Uzbek counterpart Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

"We need to develop a road map to expand trade within the framework of the strategy of economic cooperation. If we define the priority sectors of the economy that directly affect the product line, we will be able to significantly increase the volume of bilateral trade," Serik Akhmetov noted.
According to the press service of the Kazakh Government, in 2011, the trade turnover between the countries increased by 24% to USD 1.9 billion. For the first 10 months of this year it reached USD 1.7 billion and grew by more than 10.8% for the same period last year.
