Indian hospital fire kills 10 newborns

A fire that erupted today in a hospital in Uttar Pradesh, northern India, has resulted in the death of 10 newborn babies, while 16 others who were injured in the blaze remain in critical condition, WAM reports.

Brajesh Pathak, the state's Deputy Chief Minister, confirmed that seven of the 10 bodies have been identified. Meanwhile, some Indian media outlets suggested that the fire may have been caused by an electrical malfunction.
