Indonesian ferry sinks, 21 missing

JAKARTA. August 29. KAZINFORM A ferry carrying more than 100 people sank in Negara River in Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan, Indonesia, on Friday night, with 21 people still missing at present, Kazinform refers to Xinhua.

The Jakarta Post on Saturday quoted Sugiri, local chief of disaster management team, as saying that the accident happened at around 8 p.m. (1300 GMT) on Friday, and the search workers had rescued 110 passengers and found one dead.

    The search and rescue team continued looking for 21 missing people on Saturday, he said, "We are yet to have divers in the search."

    According to local police chief Second Insp. Rizqi Maulana, it was estimated that 132 passengers overloaded the boat, which only have 45-passenger capacity.
