Ingushetia's president returns to south Russian republic
According to a source in the presidential administration, Yevkurov was going straight to the capital, Magas, from the airport for a special government meeting to address the current situation in the republic.
A truck bombing on Monday at the police headquarters in Nazran , the republic's largest city, killed at least 24 people and injured 136 more.
The blast was the worst terrorist act in several years in the republic. However, attacks on federal forces and police are a regular occurrence in Ingushetia, as well as in neighboring Chechnya and nearby Dagestan.
On Friday, a Chechen rebel group claimed responsibility for the attack, while in Chechnya suicide bombers on bicycles blew themselves up in two separate incidents , killing four police officers.
The Ingush president underwent a series of operations after sustaining head and internal injuries in the attack on his motorcade on June 22 . Yevkurov was earlier reported to be planning to return to Ingushetia by the end of August, but a spokesman said on Thursday he was cutting short his treatment and going back to work early, Kazinform refers to RIA Novosti.
