Initiative of Kazakhstan reflected in results of Caspian states' summit - Rauf Rajabov
Head of Information-analytical agency 'Trety vzglyad' Rauf Rajabov shared his view on this event with a Kazinform correspondent.
'In my opinion the 3rd Summit of the Caspian states was very efficient. In recent years it has been difficult to imagine how Caspian countries could make such decision. It is also important that all presidents actively participated in the process of defining mechanisms in the sphere of security and the other issues.
In this context the presence of Nursultan Nazarbayev had the biggest impact. His authority, experience and wisdom of a great politician allowed to include into the agreement the issue on introducing moratorium on sturgeon fishing in the Caspian Sea for five years.
Besides, we cannot forget that Kazakhstan presides in the OSCE and next year it will have the same role in the Organization of the Islamic Conference and four Caspian countries are the members of this Organization. I believe that this fact positively influenced the work of this Summit.
The initiative of Kazakhstan, which was reflected in the joint statement and results of the Summit means, as N. Nazarbayev noted, that the Caspian countries gave thought to the younger generation.
The initiative of the Kazakh President on holding such meetings more often in order to sign the Convention on a legal status of the Caspian Sea which has been the main problem over the years is also very important.
Certainly, such meetings will lead to positive turn and finding right decisions. The major factor is that the Caspian states are on the right way to finding keys to solutions of the problems.
It also should be noted that the idea expressed by Nursultan Nazarbayev on sooner regulation of the issue of a legal status of the Caspian Sea was supported by President of Iran Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.
Summing up we can say that the initiatives developed and proposed over recent years, the author of most of them is the Leader of Kazakhstan, are realized. It is most likely to lead to signing the document on legal status of the Caspian Sea during the 4th Summit of Caspian states', Rauf Rajabov shared his view on the results of the Summit held in Baku.
