International community to help Kazakhstan have effective OSCE presidency

ANA. October 28. KAZINFORM /Timur Bekturganov/ "The international community is ready to assist Kazakhstan in ensuring effectiveness of its OSCE chairmanship", United States Ambassador to the OSCE in 2001-2005 Stephan M. Minikes said Wednesday at the international conference in Astana.

"Chairmanship of Kazakhstan in the OSCE: Challenges and Opportunities" international exhibition was organized by the Kazakh Foreign Ministry with the support of the American NGOs - the Institute for New Democracies and the Center for Strategic and International Studies.

As S.Minikes noted, the international community wishes success to Kazakhstan and is ready to help Astana fulfil the multiple tasks and ensure effective activity while holding the OSCE chairmanship.

The participants of the conference discussed main priorities of Kazakhstan during the period of its chairmanship in the Organization, developed particular recommendations on effectivization of the Kazakhstan's activity at the position of the chairmanship of the Organization.    

The prospects of settlement of current international problems such as international security, economic, ecological and humanitarian spheres were discussed as well.    

It is to be noted that all foreign experts supported Kazakhstan's OSCE chairmanship, highly appraised the preparatory work conducted by Astana, including the relevance of priorities of our country in the position of the Organization's Chair.
