International observers continue to apply to monitor elections in Kazakhstan
ASTANA. KAZINFORM - More than 20 international observers have already submitted their applications to monitor presidential elections in Kazakhstan, according to member of the Central Election Commission Tatyana Okhlopkova.
"Kazakhstan is open to international observers. Representatives of mass media accredited by Foreign Affairs Ministry of the Republic of Kazakhstan are welcome to monitor the elections," Ms Okhlopkova told a press conference on Thursday. According to her, nearly 100 reps of international mass media have been accredited by the ministry so far. "We also have local observers who are also eligible to monitor," Okhlopkova noted. In her words, more than 20 international observers from Estonia, the Netherlands, Georgia, Tajikistan and other countries have applied to monitor the elections and the commission is set to accredit them in the nearest future.
