TEHRAN. February 5. KAZINFORM Tehran's Public Prosecutor's Office announced the arrest of Saeed Mortazavi, the head of Iran's Social Security Organization and Tehran's former prosecutor, Press TV reported on Tuesday.

Mortazavi was taken to Tehran's Evin Prison on Monday night, said the report, adding that Tehran's Public Prosecutor's Office has given no reason for his arrest, according to Xinhua.

On Sunday, Iranian Majlis (parliament) disqualified the Minister of Labor, Cooperatives and Social Welfare, Abdolreza Sheikholeslami, over "unlawful" appointments, including the appointment of Mortazavi as the head of Iran's Social Security Organization.

Mortazavi was suspended from his position in 2010 after he was found responsible for the deaths of a number of prisoners detained in the unrest after the country's presidential elections in June 2009.
