Iran blasts UK for re-imposing sanctions against NITC

Britain has put Iran's NITC back on the list of sanctioned Iranian entities on Thursday.

This has been announced through an update on the status of anti-Iran sanctions by the UK Treasury.

NITC is a subsidiary of the National Iranian Oil Company, which was privatized in 2009.

Condemning the move, Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Marziyeh Afkham said it is 'against the current trend of good-will between Iran and Britain'.

London made the move following a decision by the European Union to re-impose sanctions against the NITC even though an EU High Court had ruled last year against blacklisting the company.

"Iran expects EU to avoid such politically provocative acts," Afkham told reporters.

She added that Tehran has protested to EU on the move.
