ASTANA. April 24. KAZINFORM Iran intends to continue expanding relations with Kazakhstan, Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Asia, Oceania and CIS Seyed Abbas Araghchi said Tuesday at a press conference in the Iranian Embassy.

"The main purpose of my trip to Kazakhstan was to conduct political consultations and exchange of views on matters of interest to both countries," he said.

According to the Minister, during his meeting with Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan Yerzhan Kazykhanov they discussed bilateral relations between Kazakhstan and Iran. Kazykhanov was presented a report on the outcome of the 5+1 meeting in Istanbul.

Today the Iranian Minister held two rounds of talks with Vice Minister Kairat Sarybayev on global and regional issues. The meeting with Chairman of the Committee on International Relations, Defense and Security of the Majilis Maulen Ashimbayev was also held in a friendly atmosphere.

Seyed Abbas Araghchi noted that Central Asia is a very important region for Iran, where the main country is Kazakhstan.
