Iran to help reconstruct historical sites, museums in Iraq

According to an agreement signed between deputy for Iran?s Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism Organization Hamid Baqaei and Iraqi officials, Iran will contribute to building special museums in Karbala and Najaf which will accommodate reminiscent and relics belonging to Shiite Imams and also help reconstruct museums in Divanieh and Najaf provinces. The Iraqi officials, meanwhile, agreed to renovate a graveyard in Najaf which is highly valued by Iranians for containing the remains of about 30 thousand Iranians as well as many religious figures including two prophets, namely Hud and Saleh (Peace be upon them). Based on the agreement, Iran will also carry out necessary measures to reconstruct a historical site belonging to ancient Iran which is located in Iraqi soil. Iran and Iraq also agreed to cooperate in fighting smuggling of cultural relics and smooth exchange of pilgrims, Kazinform cites IRNA.
