IWF highlights Kazakh team’s success at recent world championships

A delegation of the International Weightlifting Federation (IWF) headed by its President Mohammed Jaloud held a working meeting with the National Olympic Committee of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Kazinform News Agency reports.

The meeting took place at the NOC Headquarters in Astana and was attended by the President of the Weightlifting Federation and Vice-President of the NOC of Bahrain Eshaq Ebrahim Eshaq, Secretary General of the NOC of Kazakhstan Alimzhan Akayev, President of the Weightlifting Federation of Kazakhstan Gadzhi Gadzhiyev, as well as Director of the Kazakhstan National Anti-Doping Center (KazNADC) Maira Bakasheva.

Mohammed Jaloud noted the Kazakh team’s success at the recent world championships, emphasizing a high competition at the event and impressive results demonstrated by the Kazakh weightlifters. The IWF also gave special attention to the work of the Kazakhstan National Anti-Doping Centre.

Maira Bakasheva told the guests about the activities carried out to prevent the use of doping, such as  educational workshops for young athletes with the participation of experts. The workshops focused ont the consequences of using prohibited substances and the importance of quality control of the sports nutrition used.

The parties also elaborated on the plans for further cooperation, such as organization of international competitions, training athletes for complex tournaments, and implementation of joint projects aimed at weightlifting development.

Recall that Kazakhstani weightlifters claimed several gold medals and set new world records at the 2024 Asian Youth and Junior Weightlifting Championships in Doha, Qatar. Among them are Denis Poluboyarinov and Alexey Churkin.
