Jalal-Abad city of Kyrgyzstan announced as Turkic World Tourism Capital for 2025

The 9th Meeting of the Ministers in Charge of Tourism of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS ) convened on 25 September 2024 in Jalal-Abad city of Kyrgyzstan, Kabar reports. 

The meeting was hosted by Maksat Usubaliev, Director of Department of Tourism under the Ministry of Economy and Commerce of the Kyrgyz Republic and attended by Mirvokhid Azimov, Deputy Secretary General of the OTS, Tilek Tekebaev, Plenipotentiary Representative of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic in the Jalal-Abad Region, as well as High-Level Representatives of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Republic of Türkiye, the Republic of Uzbekistan and Hungary.

At the meeting, in line with the proposal made by Sadyr Zhaparov, the President of the Kyrgyz Republic during the 10th Leader’s Summit of the OTS held in Astana on 3 November 2023, the city of Jalal-Abad was declared as the Turkic World Tourism Capital for 2025 and the parties endorsed a Roadmap outlining various conferences, festivals, and activities to be held in the city next year.

During the meeting, participants discussed several topics namely exploring the potential of Silk Road Tourism, implementing the Turkic World Tourism Capital and Tabarruk Ziyarat initiatives, launching and promoting the new website www.turkicsilkroad.com, establishing the Union of Ski Resorts of the OTS, realizing investment projects in the field of tourism, organizing training programs and other tourism cooperation issues within the OTS.

Deputy Secretary General Mirvokhid Azimov updated the attendees on the latest developments in tourism cooperation among the Member and Observer States and shared information on the upcoming projects within the OTS.

Heads of delegation highlighted both bilateral and multilateral aspects of tourism collaboration within the Turkic World, emphasized the importance of boosting tourist mobility among the OTS Member and Observer States, as well as presented prospective plans and projects under the OTS framework.

The parties also agreed to hold the 10th Ministerial Meeting on Tourism of the OTS in Türkiye in 2025.
