Japanese highway tunnel collapse kills 9
TOKYO. December 3. KAZINFORM Japanese police confirmed early Monday that nine people were killed when a highway tunnel ceiling collapsed Sunday.

The nine were trapped in three vehicles inside the collapsed Sasago Tunnel on the Chou Expressway, about 80 km west of Tokyo, in Yamanashi Prefecture, according to Xinhua.
Ceiling slabs with 1.2 tons in weight collapsed in V-sharp in a 110-meter section of the cave and set cars ablaze.
The highway operator said the disaster might be triggered by loosed fixing parts of the slabs. In a regular check in September, the operator did not find any defects in the tunnel.
