Jordan highlights renewable energy progress at COP29

Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Saleh Kharabsheh participated in a high-level session on energy transition for Mediterranean and Gulf countries, held on the sidelines of the 29th Conference of the Parties (COP29) in Baku, Azerbaijan, Petra reports. 

In a statement, the ministry noted that Kharabsheh presented Jordan’s advancements in renewable energy, outlining the challenges, opportunities, and strategic priorities essential for advancing the Kingdom’s energy transition.

He emphasized the significance of national policies in fostering regional integration within the Mediterranean Basin, highlighting how these policies and specific projects support Jordan’s renewable energy targets and expedite the transition across the region.

The session’s participants explored collaborative strategies to address mutual challenges, including infrastructure development, investment barriers, regulatory issues, and financing mechanisms. Discussions also centered on creating partnerships that attract investment to support sustainable energy goals in the region.
