JSC KazTransOil boosts oil exports from Aktau Port by 50% in 11M2023
JSC NC KazTransOil exported 3 million 62 thousand tons of Kazakh oil from the port of Aktau in 11 months of 2023, which is 50% more against the same period in 2022, Kazinform News Agency reports.
According to the company's press office, the increase in the export is due to the rise in the volume of raw materials shipped to the port of Baku - from 205 thousand tons to 1 million 238 thousand tons. This is six times more than in the same period in 2022.
The company also shipped 1 million 824 thousand tons of oil from the port of Aktau to the port of Makhachkala in the reporting period.
In 2022, President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev tasked to ramp up oil transportation via the Trans-Caspian corridor. Under this instruction, JSC NC KazMunayGas and the SOCAR, state oil company of Azerbaijan, entered into an agreement on transportation of 1.5 million tons of oil per year from the Tengiz oilfield towards the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan oil pipeline.
