K.Tokayev, High Representative of UN Secretary General for Alliance of Civilizations met

ASTANA. March 6. KAZINFORM Chairman of the Kazakh Senate, head of the Secretariat of the Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions Kasym-Zhomart Tokayev met with High Representative of the UN Secretary General for the Alliance of Civilizations Jorge Sampaio Sunday in Istanbul, Kazinform refers to the press service of the Senate.

The sides shared opinions on the issues of development of interconfessional and intercultural dialogue in the modern world. K.Tokayev noted that Kazakhstan takes practical steps in promotion of inter-civilization and global interfaith dialogue, aimed at strengthening security and stability in the world. The Speaker conveyed the interlocutor an invitation to take part in the Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions that will be held in July, 2009 in Astana. The Higher Representative appreciated the international, reformative and peace-making efforts of Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev. J.Sampaio complimented the role of Kazakhstan in the promotion of the UN values in the Central Asian region and noted the importance of participation of our country in the work of the II Forum of the Group of Friends of the Alliance of Civilizations.
