K.Tokayev: My assignment - demonstration of President's authority on international arena

ASTANA. March 17. KAZINFORM /Muratbek Makulbekov/ My appointment is demonstration of great authority of our President on the international arena, Chairman of the Kazakh Senate Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has said answering journalists' questions regarding his assignment to the position of Director-General of the United Nations Office in Geneva.

"Hence President Nursultan Nazarbayev put me to nomination to this post," K.Tokayev added.

According to him, this appointment shows the growing influence of Kazakhstan on the international arena as a result of holding very important international forums like the OSCE Summit in Astana.

K.Tokayev also reminded of important initiatives of N.Nazarbayev proposed at the Global Nuclear Security Summit held in Washington in April, 2010 as well as of the fact that Kazakhstan implemented the President's initiative on the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-building Measures in Asia (CICA).
