Karaganda blogger scores prestigious int’l mass media award

Blogger Assylan Smagulov of the Buketov Karaganda State University won the prestigious international award Newsky Award in the best blog author in social media, Kazinform News Agency reports.

Over 4,000 applications from Italy, France, Türkiye, Croatia, Denmark, Great Britain, the U.S., Canada, Spain, China, the UAE and Central Asian countries were submitted this year.

The articles submitted for the Newsky Award were dedicated to a host of topics, including foreign policy, inter-regional accord, cultural and spiritual values, charity and social activity.

Assylan Smagulov has been heavily involved in volunteer activity and youth policy since 16. He has been quite active on his TikTok account talking about his thoughts about youth policy and sharing his experience. He says the award is an incentive and motivation to go on with his efforts.

This year saw the third edition of the Newsky Award that is given to professional journalists of Kazakhstani and global mass media as well as young correspondents and bloggers.

The organizers are United Charity Projects Evolution and the Kazakhstan Journalism Academy.
